Planning for the Future

Citation

In this category, contestants were requested to show a careful, considered planning process towards appropriate goals for their community’s future.

The judges focussed, first, on the strategic planning method, local concerns and the financial background; they focussed, secondly, on proof of a holistic, multi-dimensional approach in an integrated and sustainable manner on policies and counter measures through democratic decision making; and, thirdly, on functional open and green spaces which were considered to be fundamental assets in attaining the goals of a liveable community.

We judged that one community was particularly excellent in this because they successfully showed the most satisfactory planning practices and a strategic statement for integrated local water management, township development and a careful conservation plan for open spaces to maintain valuable fauna and flora.
