Lord Mayor of Westminster welcomes LivCom to London
Speaking at a welcoming ceremony held in
London’s Westminster Central Hall to launch the start of
LivCom 2007, Lord Mayor of Westminster Cllr Carolyn Keen
said: “It is a pleasure to welcome you here to London.
Westminster is proud to be hosting the LivCom final. The
fact that you have come from all parts of the world with
knowledge and experience that we can all share is hugely
important for an issue which is probably the most
significant that we will face in my life time.
“If we do not get some answers right we will
leave a terrible legacy.”
Chair of the judging panel, Gabriel de
Buysscher from Belgium said: “Over the next four days you
will all have the opportunity to show how you and your
colleagues are tackling the challenges within your
communities. If you want to develop an improved quality of
life, the spark has to be you. You are not alone in this and
that is what this competition is all about. We are here to
exchange ideas and enrich our expertise. The aim of LivCom
is to allow you all to go home next week with new ideas and
extra drive to help your communties.” |
