TEN COMMUNITIES BID FOR BURSARY SUPPORT AT LIVCOM AWARDS
TEN communities have submitted entries in a bid to land a
£10,000 bursary award at the 2007 International Awards for
Liveable Communities.
The bursary award is made on a shared funding basis and
is aimed at small community projects which have a target
spend of around £20,000.
Last year’s project was won by Abuja in Nigeria with the
bursary going to develop a neighbourhood park.
This year’s ten finalists are:
Agra University, India: Condition of Working Children
Broadland District Council: Catton Park Pond
Ekurhuleni, South Africa: Ekurhuleni: Garden Competition
Fayetteville, USA: Rainwater Collection and Irrigation
System at Botanical garden of the Ozarks
Fieri: Department of Policies in local level
Gorna Oryahovista Municipality: Park Renovations
Murska Sobota, Slovenia: Murska Sobota – the Green City
Newark, England: Natural Newark
Ville de Rosemere, Canada: Implementation of Environmental
Policy
Salekhard, Russia: Flowers on the Arctic Circle
Soho, London, England: Retrofitting and Sustainability
The winning community will be announced at the awards
ceremony in London on 26 November.
